An Erasmus Student's Guide to Making Notes in a Foreign Language: Part 1 - Making Notes During your Lessons
One of the things that took the most getting used to on my study abroad has been the whole ‘studying in a foreign language’ thing. Which is kind of funny, because obviously I knew that it was something I’d have to do, I just didn’t realise how much of a change it would be. As it turns out, studying a foreign language and studying in a foreign language are actually two very different things. Anyway, making notes is a key component to studying, in any language and in any topic, so I figured I’d write a little guide to note-making in a foreign language because it’s taken me some time to get to grips with it, so hopefully someone else might find this useful.
Classy Cocktails: The Graze Bar Portishead Review
For a while now, I’ve been eagerly awaiting an opportunity to visit The Graze Bar, a fairly new addition to my home town, Portishead. Unfortunately, I’ve not spent much time there recently and only just found the time to visit The Graze a couple of days after Christmas, much to my sister’s relief, as she works there and has been urging me to visit since it opened. With a beautiful view of Portishead’s Marina and gorgeous interior decor, The Graze emits a sense of elegance, right from the first sight. The venue is beautifully decorated and stepping in through the door gave me a sense of classiness, before I’d even sat down on one of their stunning, plush green chairs.
Arcade Games and Neon Lights: NQ64 Cardiff Review
If you think back to the end of the summer you’ll remember this post, from when I visited Manchester and a few bars there. One that really stood out was NQ64. So you can imagine my joy when I found out that they were going to be opening a venue right on my doorstep, in Cardiff. Naturally, then, it made sense for me to visit as soon as I got the chance to visit before the official opening as games testers, which just so happened to be on my boyfriend’s birthday on the 2nd November. Arcade games, cocktails (and beer) and a striking neon-lit interior, what more could a man want for his birthday? And I desperately wanted to visit ASAP too, so it all worked towards a perfect birthday evening.
Montpellier, France: First Impressions of my New Home
Bonjour from Montpellier! Now, I’ve been here for just over a week and experienced my first full week at a French university, which has been something, to say the least. I figured I write you all a little post exploring some insights into French life I’ve experienced so far. Admittedly, I’m not sure if these are experiences related to the whole of France but they’re certainly things that I’ve noticed myself.
Gig Review: Twin Atlantic | Tramshed, Cardiff | 24.08.2021
It’s been a while since live music was a thing. A long, long while. Which is why, when my boyfriend and I noticed Twin Atlantic were playing at Tramshed, we couldn’t resist but to grab some tickets and welcome back live music. Naturally, I had to write a little blog post all about it, so here you go!
5 Things About French University That I Did Not Expect
Moving to France and starting a year at University Paul Valéry Montpellier has been one of the most confusing experiences of my life. From the admin that seemingly means nothing, to people casually smoking weed on campus, I’ve been perplexed by a fair few things in my two short weeks attending a French uni, so I thought I’d share my confusion with you.
An Impromptu Night in Manchester: Bars to Visit in the City
After booking a hotel in Manchester with the original intention of getting my visa (more on that whole headache another time), it was only natural not to put the booking to waste and do the obvious thing: a night out. Of course, originally this wasn’t the plan, so it meant wandering the unfamiliar streets and popping into whatever spots looked the most exciting according to Google...
Jollibee Cardiff Review
This review has been a long time coming. Originally, I had planned to step-up the blogging frequency over the summer but as you can see, that didn’t work out so well. In fact it didn’t work out at all, seeing as the last time I posted was at the very start of July. This post was supposed to be up a few days after the Jollibee opening but I kind of forgot. I’ve had a busy summer (working in a service station during the summer holidays is not the one, I’ll tell you that much). Anyway, enough of me grovelling about my inability to keep the blog updated and on to the main topic of this post, Jollibee.

The Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting University
Starting university can normally lead to one of three things: excitement; fear; or a bit of both. For me, it was definitely the third. I had no idea what to expect on this new journey, and it didn’t help that I wasn’t the most confident person. You almost want to watch a trailer of your university experience to see what you can expect, but as that’s not possible, I’m rounding up just a few of the things I wish I knew before starting university, based off of my own experience.
Hello World!
Hello World! My very own blog is finally here and this is a little intro post into myself and what you can expect from my blog :)
